Uganda - Jan (3270)
The Borderlands team is based out of Arua, Uganda, and works alongside refugee brothers and sisters to reach the 1.5 million refugees in country. As we serve in the different refugee camps, we seek to identify and care for the felt needs of the people staying there. You can partner with us in this endeavor through Bible study trainings with pastors, evangelism, Bible storying, and foster and orphan ministries. Additionally we collaborate with refugees for vocational skills trainings such as baking and soap making, housing construction projects for persons with special needs, and well-drilling endeavors. We welcome new ideas for practical/transferrable skills trainings, and are excited for you to join us in this work.
Things to consider: Work in the refugee camps can be physically/emotionally/spiritually strenuous. Long, hot days may be spent in the camps, with rough dirt roads taken to and from work locations. Be prepared for no AC and inconsistent water/electricity availability. Because of the nature of working with vulnerable peoples, emotional maturity ought to be considered for those joining the trip. Be prepared to engage with and process through major trauma with individuals from Sudan and South Sudan.
Estimated trip cost: $1,900.00
